Church coordinator Tom Stillman invited our team on June 14 to deliver hands-on, instructor-led CPR education in a familiar and comfortable setting.

Certified AHA instructors Aaron Frankel and Bill Bergner led a group of twelve participants, focusing on real-world response skills for cardiac and respiratory emergencies commonly encountered in public and faith-based settings.

During the training, participants practiced essential American Heart Association CPR and AED skills, including:

• Recognizing cardiac arrest and activating the emergency response system

• Performing high-quality CPR, including proper chest compressions and rescue breaths

• Safely using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)

• Coordinating two-rescuer CPR to improve efficiency and effectiveness

• Responding to child cardiac emergencies

• Managing choking incidents and understanding how respiratory arrest can lead to cardiac arrest

Tom ensured that all attendees knew where the church’s real AEDs are located and how to operate them correctly. While we hope these devices are never needed, the training ensures that Wesley Methodist Church is better prepared for cardiac emergencies. Twelve additional church members are now confident in delivering AHA best-practice CPR and AED care should an emergency occur.
